‘I find it hard to believe why Jay Jay Okocha never won the African Player of the Year award’- Vincent Enyeama

Former Super Eagles captain and goalkeeper, Vincent Enyeama, has questioned why one of Nigerian great footballers,  Austin ‘Jay Jay’ Okocha never won the African Player of the Year award throughout his playing career.

Okocha, a quick and skillful playmaker, who is widely regarded as the best Nigerian player of his generation and one of the greatest African players of all time, never won the prestigious award. He only went close on three occasions to win the African Player of the Year award.

After Mohammed Salah of Liverpool FC and Eygpt was named the winner of the 2017 African Player of the Year last night, Enyeama took to Twitter to question why Okocha was snubbed for the award during his playing time.
