2027 Grammy nominations will be announced on Monday, 16 November 2026, according to the Recording Academy’s published calendar. That is the next major public milestone in an awards cycle whose first-round voting has already finished. The winners come later, at the ceremony scheduled for 7 February 2027 in Los Angeles.
The distinction matters as prediction lists begin to circulate. An artist being discussed, promoted or entered for consideration is not the same as an artist receiving a nomination. A nomination is also not a win. Following the stages makes the conversation easier to understand without turning enthusiasm into a supposed result.
The calendar crosses two years
The Academy sets this cycle’s eligibility period at 31 August 2025 to 28 August 2026. Its calendar dates first-round voting to 12–22 October 2026, followed by the November nomination announcement. Final voting is scheduled for 10 December 2026 to 7 January 2027, before the February ceremony.
Awards names and calendar dates can be easy to mix up. Our report on the Headies Toronto finale moving to April 2027 is another reminder to check the organiser’s actual timetable. The year in an award’s name does not always describe when the music was first released or when every stage took place.
For the Grammys, this means a release associated with one calendar year can be considered for a ceremony carrying the next year’s name. Before debating why something is absent, establish whether it falls within the relevant period and whether its entry and category information have been confirmed.
Entries, screening and peer voting do different jobs
The Recording Academy describes a process beginning with entries from members and media companies, followed by eligibility and category screening. Voting members then take part in rounds that determine nominations and winners. Screening is intended to establish whether an entry qualifies and where it belongs, rather than to declare an artistic winner.
The Academy’s voting membership includes music creators involved in recording’s creative and technical work. It is a peer-based award rather than an open public popularity poll. A large fan campaign may demonstrate enthusiasm, but it does not turn public posts into ballots in the Academy’s process.

For artists, recognition still becomes part of a wider career story. Our Tems career profile follows that connection between music-making and international attention. One awards cycle adds a particular record to a career; it does not provide the only measure of what the artist has made or what listeners value.
Read the category before reading the argument
Some of the loudest awards disagreements begin with categories being treated as interchangeable. Record Of The Year and Song Of The Year are a useful example. The official category descriptions distinguish achievement in a recording from achievement in songwriting. The recognised people and the work being considered are therefore different.
The Academy’s 2024 record makes that distinction concrete. Miley Cyrus’s Flowers won Record Of The Year, while What Was I Made For? won Song Of The Year for songwriters Billie Eilish and Finneas O’Connell. These are historical results used as an example, not predictions or nominations for the upcoming cycle.
When the new list appears, read the full credit attached to a category. A recording can involve a performer, producers and technical collaborators, while a songwriting award focuses on the composition’s credited writers. Treating every nomination as if it recognised only the person most visible in a music video leaves important work out of the picture.

It is also useful to separate a nomination count from a category’s meaning. Several nominations can represent different parts of a project or career. Comparing two totals without considering the categories may produce a simple ranking, but it can miss the reason particular people are being recognised.
The distinction between audience activity and industry measures also appears in our look at Spotify’s Closer project and music fandom. Listening, sharing and award voting belong to connected conversations, but they are not the same activity and should not be described as if one automatically guarantees the other.
A new television home begins in 2027
The ceremony is scheduled for Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. It will be simulcast on ABC, Disney+ and Hulu under the Academy’s announced arrangement with Disney. The agreement begins with 2027 and runs through 2036, adding a broadcasting change to the familiar discussion about nominees and performances.
For the dates themselves, the primary Grammys announcement is the clearest starting point. Viewers outside the United States should check authorised local access when planning to watch. An announced American distribution arrangement does not establish identical access in every country.
For now, 16 November is the date to keep. Until the official list arrives, a forecast remains a forecast, however confidently it is presented. Once it does, reading the category names, credits and eligibility context will make the results more interesting than a quick argument over who was supposedly guaranteed a place.
