A 21-year-old Nigerian student, David Nwosu, has will spend the next five years in prison after a Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court in the United Kingdom convicted him for raping a 12-year-old girl he met on the social media.
Daily Mail reports that Nwosu, a Mathematics and Computer Science undergraduate at the Keele University had also encouraged another teenager to send him intimate photographs of herself shortly after committing the first rape.
Described as a very promising student, Nwosu who was said to have met the second victim, a 15-year-old South Wales girl, on social media and asked for her nude pictures, has also been placed on the sex offenders’ register for the rest of his life.
Prosecutor Glyn Samuel told the Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court that the 12-year-old revealed she was ’14, going on 15′, while she was communicating with Nwosu.
“He told her he wanted to have sex with her and would like to make a sex tape with her,” Samuel said.
The prosecutor narrated how Nwosu sent the girl two intimate pictures of himself and told her he loved her and if she loved him, she would send sexual pictures of herself as well and she sent him photographs of her bottom and breasts.
Samuel said Nwosu met his second victim, who at first claimed she was 16, on social media between Christmas and New Year and began sending her his nude photos.
“He would send her pictures of himself and asked her to send pictures of herself. He requested pictures of her breasts and bottom, was very persistent and told her he was 18.
She soon confessed she was only 15. He said he did not care and continued to contact her. She confirmed she sent pictures of her naked breasts. He tried to persuade her to kiss her friend in a sexual way but she would not do that.
She never met up with him. She knew he wanted her for sexual purposes and nothing else,”Samuel continued.
When the evidence was presented in court, Nwosu of Jenkinson Close, Newcastle, pleaded guilty to rape of a child under 13 and causing or inciting sexual exploitation of a 15-year-old child.
He was found guilty on the strength of the evidence and properly sentenced and would not be eligible for parole anytime soon.
