Liverpool is reportedly considering Leroy Sane as a potential long-term replacement for Mohamed Salah.

Liverpool is reportedly considering Leroy Sane as a potential long-term replacement for Mohamed Salah. The club is said to have set its sights on the German winger as they plan for the future.

Liverpool are said to be exploring the possibility of adding a high-profile player to their ranks. This player is none other than Bayern Munich’s Leroy Sane, a talented German winger whose potential move to Liverpool is sending shockwaves through the footballing world. While it promises to be a costly endeavor, with an estimated value exceeding 90 million, Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool’s manager, is keen to persuade the Fenway Sports Group (FSG) to make this signing a reality.

This rumoured transfer isn’t just about bringing in another top talent – it’s about reshaping Liverpool’s future and perhaps finding the ideal successor to a club legend in Mohamed Salah.

The Reds are currently looking for a proper Number 6 that could play a domino role to deploy Alexis Mac Allister in a more suited role to his attributes. With the upcoming transfer plans, Liverpool mainly looking forward to securing a CDM but is also planning for the future.

According to reports, the German winger is set to leave Bayern next season. But, as earlier stated, this option does not come cheap for the Reds.

Virgil Van Dijk is currently the club’s record signing at 75 million Euros. Liverpool came close to breaking it during the Moises Caicedo saga but now it looks like they need to go down that path yet again.

Leroy Sane to Liverpool makes a lot of sense in a lot of ways. The first is being the long-term replacement of Mohamed Salah. Mo Salah is already 33 years old and it’s getting clear that the Egyptian forward’s role is now a more creative one rather than being just the goalscorer.

The history between the two parties

Leroy Sane also played at rivals Manchester City and Liverpool fans must be remembering the sad memories given by the former Number 19. Back in 2019, Pep Guardiola hailed Sane as one of the world’s premier young talents.

Jurgen Klopp is a big fan of the German and would like to bring him to Anfield. This season has been phenomenal goal-scoring-wise for Leroy as the winger already has registered 7 goals in all competitions, despite the injection of Harry Kane in the Bayern Munich team.

Sane’s contract is set to expire in 2025 and so far there have been no talks of an extension. Tier 1 Bayern source Christian Falk reports that the Reds are also interested in Bayern wonderkid Musiala but it looks highly doubtful that Bayern would let go of their star kid.

Recent reports say that Liverpool will be in deep waters if Salah leaves for Saudi next season and they don’t prepare themselves for any potential replacements for him. Thomas Tuchel sees Leroy Sane as a starter for the team and Bayern is likely to offer a new contract running until 2027 making him one of the highest earners at the club.

Does the move make sense?

With Sane averaging a goal every 102 minutes and ranking in the top 5 for the most distance covered in the Bundesliga, he just might be the ideal replacement for Mohammed Salah. The weeks before next summer are going to be crucial for the three parties involved as Bayern would not be looking to let Sane go off easily while Liverpool would look to get the deal done rather than having a Jude Bellingham or Moises Caicedo situation.

If Leroy does make the move to the Merseyside he will only be the second German player signed after Loris Karius. Liverpool fans would be hoping that Leroy Sane if makes the move to Liverpool will be able to give them plenty of joy just like his predecessor did.
