Royal father Kidnapped

After killing ward chief Malam Yahuza in Gundawa in Katsina State, bandits kidnapped Dr. Ibrahim Kurami’s wife and two children, as well as the lawmaker representing Bakori constituency in the Katsina state House of Assembly.

Alhaji Mahmud Ahmed Aliyu, the Dodo of Wawa, was also kidnapped.

A group called Northern Elders Forum (NEF) had pleaded with governors in the north to go beyond the imposition of economic and social lockdown on communities besieged by terrorists by facilitating an aggressive and effective military assault on the bandits.

73 students from the Government Day Secondary School in Kaya, Maradun LGA, Zamfara State, were kidnapped last Wednesday as part of an abduction spree that began in the north last week.

Kidnap of District Head

Heavy-armed gunmen on motorcycles stormed into District Head’s Palace and began shooting sporadically to scare residents inside and outside the Palace before gaining entry.

In the end, the gunmen were successful in transporting him to an unknown location. Alhaji Aliyu was taken through the Kainji National Park by the gunmen, according to a source, before being taken to the Benin Republic.

Located on the Benin Republic border, Wawa is a small town.

As a medical doctor, the district’s head holds a Ph.D. degree in Environmental Science from a Malaysian university.

Wasiu Abiodun, the Niger State Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the kidnapping when contacted, adding that the Police Special Tactical Team had been dispatched to find the kidnappers.

Their capture would come soon, he said.

Legislator’s wife and two children were taken away

In a separate incident, suspected bandits kidnapped the wife and two children of Dr. Ibrahim Kurami, who represents the Bakori constituency in the Katsina State Assembly.

At around 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, the bandits stormed Kurami village, located in Bakori LGA of the state, where the lawmaker lives, according to a resident.

He was in his council’s All Progressives Congress (APC) Local Government congress at the time of the incident.

When the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Bakori council provided details about the incident, SP Gambo Isah, spokesperson for the Katsina State Police Command, promised to comment on it.

The death of a second district chief

Meanwhile, suspected bandits shot and killed the Ward Head of Masaku Malam Yahuza in Gundawa Local Government Area of Katsina State.

Bandits attacked on Saturday night, killing the village’s ward chief and robbing all the livestock, according to reporters.

Some of the bandits also took Kabir Muhammad’s brother, who was the secretary of the Katsina State Government.

Secretary to the State Governor Press Director Abdullah Yar’adua confirmed Mustapha Mohammed Inuwa’s elder brother was kidnapped.

He was kidnapped last Wednesday from Danmusa, where Yar’adua grew up, according to Yar’adua.

Yar’adua said: “The man was abducted on his farm in Diftau, Danmusa LGA, on Wednesday, September 1.

Although his abductors have not made any demands, the matter has been reported to security agencies in the state.
