Former Manchester United captain, Roy Keane, has expressed his doubts about Arsenal’s ability to win the Premier League title this year. Despite admitting that Mikel Arteta’s men are the current favorites, Keane is confident that Manchester City will complete their three-peat as champions.

As things stand, Arsenal sits eight points clear of City, although they have played a game more than Pep Guardiola’s side. However, the Gunners face crucial fixtures against Liverpool and City before the end of the month, which could edge them closer to their first title in almost 20 years.

Speaking on The Overlap, Keane acknowledged Arsenal’s impressive run and commended their young players for their consistency. He stated that they are “in a great position” and that they are “definitely favorites for the title.” Nonetheless, Keane still fancies City emerge victorious in the end.

“I don’t think they’ll do it. I still have to fancy City, but Arsenal has got themselves in a great position,” Keane said.

Despite Keane’s doubts, Arsenal fans will be buoyed by their team’s current form. The Gunners have been on an impressive run of late, winning their last five league games, including a crucial 2-0 victory against Liverpool at the Emirates.

The team’s success can be attributed to several factors, including the emergence of young talents like Bukayo Saka, Emile Smith Rowe, and Gabriel Martinelli. These players have added a new dimension to Arsenal’s attack and have provided Arteta with the creative spark he has been searching for.

In addition, the team’s defense has also been solid in recent weeks, with the likes of Gabriel, Ben White, and Kieran Tierney forming a formidable partnership at the back.

Despite their impressive form, Arsenal will face a stern test in the coming weeks. Their next game is a trip to Anfield to face Liverpool, a team that has been struggling of late but is still a force to be reckoned with. The Gunners will then host City at the Emirates, a fixture that could determine their title aspirations.

While Arsenal has put themselves in a great position to challenge for the title, they will need to maintain their current form and avoid any slip-ups if they are to have any chance of winning the league. City, on the other hand, has been in dominant form in recent weeks and is currently on a 14-game winning streak in all competitions.

The defending champions have also been boosted by the return of several key players, including Kevin De Bruyne and Aymeric Laporte, who has made a significant impact since their return from injury.

With the title race heating up, it remains to be seen who will emerge victorious come May. Arsenal has put themselves in contention, but City remains the team to beat. As Keane stated, the Gunners are in a great position, but they will need to prove themselves against the likes of Liverpool and City if they are to win their first Premier League title in almost 20 years.
