Nigerian singer, Ahmed Ololade, popularly known as Asake, has revealed his dream music collaboration in an exclusive interview with Billboard News. The ‘Sungba’ crooner expressed his desire to work with billionaire American rapper, Kanye West.
Asake, who has risen to fame in the Nigerian music industry, explained that he likes to work with artists he has connections with. “For me, I need to like the person before I can make music with you. I need to be comfortable with you. Not even because of the music alone,” he said.
The young artist went on to explain that he likes to work with people who have real energy and who he can connect with on a personal level. “If you like me beyond the music, it’s good. But I need to connect with your music, I need to like the person I want to work with first so it won’t be a problem for me. There must be synergy,” he added.

Asake’s dream collaboration with Kanye West is not a new desire. He has been vocal about his admiration for the American rapper and producer for some time. “I have been saying this thing since; maybe God will do it. I will like to work with Kanye [West],” he said.
Asake also spoke about the explosion of the afrobeats genre globally, stating that it is like having a baby that is growing. “You know, you feel good when you have something around you and the thing is growing. In a couple of years, it [afrobeats] will be bigger,” he said.
The afrobeats genre has been gaining popularity globally in recent years, with artists like Burna Boy, Wizkid, and Davido leading the way. Asake, who is known for his unique sound and style, has also contributed to the growth of the genre with his hit songs like ‘Mr Money’ and ‘Don’t Hype Me.’
