In an interview reported by Reuters on August 20, Kane said he is content in Munich and focused on talks over a possible extension to his Bayern contract, which currently runs to 2027. He also spoke after collecting his second European Golden Shoe following a 36-goal Bundesliga season. Reuters reported that Kane now sees his future in Germany with less urgency about going back to England.
The comments matter because the Premier League record has followed Kane since he left Tottenham. He remains 47 goals short of Alan Shearer’s all-time mark of 260, and every strong season in Germany has kept speculation alive about whether he might eventually return to chase it.
Winning trophies changed the question around Kane
For much of his Tottenham career, Kane’s lack of major team silverware became the central argument used against his individual record. That changed after the move to Bayern. He has now won two Bundesliga titles, the German Cup and the German Supercup while continuing to score at an extraordinary rate.

That is significant because records often become more attractive as players approach the end of their peak years. Kane appears to be taking the opposite view. Rather than treating a return as something he must complete, he is weighing where he feels settled and where he can still compete for major honours.

Kane’s calm tone suggests neither side wants a public drama. That is different from the transfer saga that surrounded his Tottenham exit, when bids, deadlines and public statements created pressure on every development.
Age is part of the decision, but not the whole story
Kane is 33, an age when many elite strikers begin adapting their game. His output, however, has not shown the usual decline. The 36-goal Bundesliga campaign that earned another European Golden Shoe suggests he remains capable of leading a title-winning attack.
His style may help. Kane has never depended only on explosive pace. He drops into midfield, passes over distance and creates chances as well as finishing them. Those skills can remain valuable even if his physical profile changes.
