Ellen Pompeo reveals she was robbed while on vacation in Italy

Ellen Pompeo became a target of thieves during her family trip to Europe.

On Friday, May 25, 2018, the Grey’s Anatomy star took to Instagram to reveal that she was recently a victim of burglary while vacationing in Florence, Italy.

“My purse was stolen from right under my nose!!” she wrote, captioning a snapshot of two local police members. “I blame the rose!! But Grazia to whoever stole it for dropping it on the street exactly in tact. I was tracking my phone and chasing you down…had I caught you… it would not have ended well for you… I am nice but lets not forget my heritage… NAPOLITANO.”

Noting in Italian that the thief(s) in question may have been caught on camera, the 48-year-old actress continued, “Also I hope you were smiling because e Sarai catturato perche sei in macchina. Please forgive my horrible Italian.”

In a repost, the official Instagram account of Italy’s police force replied, “#Thankyou @EllenPompeo #GreysAnatomy Happy to know the #Police in #Florence helped you.”

Pompeo’s latest post also caught the attention of her Shondaland co-star, Giacomo Gianniotti. As Entertainment Tonight noted, he was born in Rome and also happens to be fluent in Italian. “Cmon Ellen! You didn’t hit up your boy for an Italian translation? Haha I’ll be there in July and I’ll be on the prowl for your boy, he don’t stand a chance,” the actor, who got engaged last November, wrote in the comments section. “Glad you are safe!”

A day before the incident occurred, Pompeo posted a sweet snapshot of her two daughters, 8-year-old Stella and 3-year-old Sienna, overlooking a gorgeous sunset during their family vacation. “Firenze,” the proud mom wrote, complete with two heart emojis. The actress also shares a son, 17-month-old Eli, with her husband of 11 years, music producer Chris Ivery.
