In a bid to strengthen the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Akwa Ibom State, Governor Pastor Umo Eno has once again urged aggrieved party members who defected to other political parties to return and join hands in rebuilding the party. The reintegration drive, according to Governor Umo Eno, is aimed at fortifying the party from the grassroots level and fostering unity among its members.

The governor extended the olive branch during a visit to the PDP secretariat in Atan Offot, Uyo, on Thursday. Joined by the state Publicity Secretary of PDP, Borono Bassey, Governor Umo Eno expressed his gratitude to his predecessor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, the party leadership, party members, and the people of Akwa Ibom for their unwavering support during the election period, which ultimately led to his victory.

Governor Umo Eno stressed the importance of ward-level involvement and announced a state-wide ward meeting scheduled for Saturday, August 26, 2023. He emphasized that the ward is the bedrock of the party and must be firmly established through intentional actions by party stakeholders and leaders. He urged them to maintain constant engagement with party faithful, emphasizing the need for a rejuvenation of the party throughout the state.

“Our primary goal is to restrengthen the party in the state. This can only be achieved through a comprehensive reintegration drive within the ranks of the PDP at every ward level. The ward is the strongest level of the party, and we must ensure its firm entrenchment through intentional actions,” Governor Umo Eno declared.

To display gratitude for the support received, the governor assured the people of Akwa Ibom that the party’s commitment will extend beyond mere words. He pledged that policies and programs would reflect their gratitude and dedication to serving the people. Promising to work tirelessly towards progress, he emphasized the importance of moving Akwa Ibom State forward.
