A heatwave is sweeping across Europe with and is expected in Britain next week.

A red extreme heat warning has been issued by the Met Office for parts of England next week, meaning a risk to life is likely as temperatures could hit 40C (104F).

People are being warned that the hot weather could put everyone’s health at risk. But why is it so hot?
