Keana Local Government Council Vows to Prosecute Killers of Farmers in Nasarawa

In a bid to bring justice to the victims and prevent future crimes, the Keana Local Government Council in Nasarawa State has taken a firm stand against the recent killings of farmers in the area. The council, under the leadership of Chairman Sanusi Abdul Giza, has pledged to prosecute the perpetrators responsible for the heinous acts.

During an emergency meeting with security personnel, traditional rulers, and other key stakeholders, Chairman Giza reiterated the council’s commitment to ensuring that those behind the attacks are brought to justice. The meeting, which took place at the palace of Osokadarko, addressed the alarming trend of violence against farmers in the region.

“As a local government, in collaboration with security agencies, we are actively working to identify and apprehend those responsible for these senseless acts,” stated the council boss.

Senior Special Assistant to Governor Abdullahi Sule on Universal Basic Education and Political, James Ali Manza, and Ibrahim Bido also voiced their concern over the recent violence, assuring the public that the state government would not tolerate any actions that could jeopardize unity and stability.

In his address, the paramount ruler of Kadarko, Osokadarko Mallam Usman Kakunu Dodo, refuted claims made by a specific ethnic group regarding land disputes. He clarified that the land in question, which had been lying unused and had become a hotspot for criminal activities, was allocated to farmers from various ethnic backgrounds following due process and approval from both the chiefdom and Keana LGA.

The resolve of the Keana Local Government Council to seek justice for the slain farmers and uphold peace in the region has been met with widespread support from the community. Residents have expressed their appreciation for the council’s proactive stance and have called for swift action to bring the perpetrators to justice.
