We’ve never seen Paul “Pauly D” DelVecchio of Jersey Shore fame like this before.
On Wednesday, June 12, 2019, the MTV star took to Twitter to share a rare peek at what his natural hair looks like sans its signature gelled-up look. You heard that right: Pauly D appears to be letting his hair hang loose for the summer, and, well, it has the Internet shook.
“Haters Will Say It’s Sweat, No Gel, Beard, Chest Hair, Outside,” Pauly D, 38, wrote to his 3.96 million followers. The nearly unrecognizable television personality added a smiley-face emoticon to the caption of the shirtless snapshot, which featured a headband pulling back his gel-free hair.
Those in the Twittersphere may be known to not be able to agree on basically anything, but Jersey Shore fanatics overwhelmingly loved the reality TV star’s entire new look. With some fans sharing double-take gifs, others tweeted out compliments which ranged from commenting on of Pauly D’s gel-free hair to his tanned complexion.
“I actually really like Pauly D’s hair with no gel,” one person wrote, adding the hashtag, “#ItsAKeeper.” Similarly, another fan tweeted, “You look so good with your hair like this!” Another person shared, “Honestly your hair looks way better without all that crap in it.” One fan was basically all of us when they tweeted out, “I never thought we’d see your hair without the gel. It looks great!!” Meanwhile, another Twitter user didn’t hold back with, “Boy why you been lookin like a slim Jim for the past 10+ years?! I’m team #nogel all the way.”
Elsewhere in the Jersey Shore sphere, MTV announced on Thursday, June 13, that Jersey Shore: Family Vacation will return to the small screen on Thursday, July 11. “Through the challenges and fears, pranks and surprise wedding guests, is the humor that keeps this group together and proves that facing life’s twists and turns is easier with friends,” the network stated in a press release to E! News.
Of course, between Jenni “JWOWW” Farley’s ongoing divorce proceedings with estranged ex Roger Mathews, Deena Nicole Cortese welcoming her first child, son CJ, with husband Chris Buckner, Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi ‘s pregnancy with baby no. 3, and Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino marrying longtime sweetheart Lauren Pesce ahead of his nine-month prison stint for tax evasion, there will be no shortage of story lines for the hit reality TV show to cover.
As for our man Pauly D, E! News notes that he “gets in his wedding prank.” Although, we’re not entirely sure what this will entail.
Dave Kotinsky/Getty ImagesHowever, those who are hankering for their Jersey Shore fix can currently tune into Vinny Guadagnino and Pauly D’s A Double Shot at Love series, during which the bachelors attempt to find love in a house full of potential girlfriends (think MTV’s version of The Bachelor, but now there’s two). In this week’s episode, the duo was even visited by pals JWoww and Ronnie Ortiz-Magro for some relationship advice, because juggling 20 possible love interests at once can’t be easy.
“It was difficult!” Pauly D told People magazine ahead of the show’s April 2019 premiere. “You have 20 women and they’re dating both of us. I spend time with one, and the other ones are all looking at me — they’re judging. I leave that one to go to another one, and then that one is like, ‘Why did you leave me?!’ My head was spinning the whole time.” For his part, Guadagnino said, “It was weird for two reasons. One, it would cause drama, so of course people would be upset and jealous. Then there was this other weird part where you would hook up or kiss [someone], and those girls were all friends with each other! It got really weird. Like, are you guys buddy buddy after that?”
As of this writing, there’s no word on whether Pauly D’s no-gel look will be featured on either MTV series this summer. But whether it’s here to stay or he plans to switch it up every now and then with his famous gelled-up locks, we think he looks great either way … although his latest style has got to be a lot easier to prepare than his usual 25-minute hair routine.
