Iran Helicopter Crash Victims Identified

After the tragic helicopter crash in Iran on Sunday, the government has now confirmed the identities of all nine victims.

Despite the severe burns suffered by the occupants of the helicopter, officials were able to establish their identities on Monday. The bodies of the victims have been transferred to Tabriz, the capital of Iran’s East Azerbaijan province.

Among the deceased were President Ebrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian, whose deaths were previously confirmed by state media. The helicopter crashed while they were returning from a meeting with the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev.

In addition to the government officials, a senior imam from Tabriz who led Friday prayers in the city was also on board the aircraft. According to Tasnim, the imam survived for about an hour after the crash and was able to contact the presidential office before succumbing to his injuries.
