In a surprising revelation, Cillian Murphy, the star of the hit show “Peaky Blinders,” shared some insight into his off-screen relationships with his co-stars. Despite the on-screen chemistry shared by the cast, Murphy disclosed to Variety that they didn’t actually spend much time together outside of filming.

Reflecting on the 10th anniversary of “Peaky Blinders” in 2022, Murphy admitted that due to the intense nature of the shoot, which often required long hours for months on end, the cast didn’t socialize much off-set. “It’s been an adventure!” Murphy exclaimed when discussing his experience working with his co-stars. “Throughout ‘Peaky,’ there’s been a lot of different cast members, and we’ve had other directors,” he added. “Because it is such an intense shoot due to the nature of the material, and because we are working about 16 hours a day for about five months, we don’t tend to hang out socially when we aren’t shooting. … I think that’s only because we see so much of each other when we work.”

The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic also played a role in limiting interactions between the cast members, according to Murphy. Despite these challenges, Murphy emphasized that he valued the opportunity to work with such a talented team and expressed his gratitude for the lessons he learned from his co-stars.

In an interview with The Guardian, Murphy revealed that he is not one to frequent social gatherings outside of work. His co-star, Sam Neill, described Murphy as someone who values his privacy and is dedicated to his craft. “Cillian’s not silly,” Neill remarked. “He does not splash his life around,” highlighting Murphy’s professionalism and commitment to his work.

Overall, while Murphy may not have formed close bonds with his Peaky Blinders co-stars off-screen, his dedication to his craft and admiration for his colleagues are evident. As fans eagerly anticipate the upcoming season of “Peaky Blinders,” Murphy’s insights into his relationships with his co-stars provide a deeper understanding of the dynamics behind the scenes.
