In a deeply distressing turn of events, the Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar, has initiated a thorough investigation into the tragic death of Yusuf Shuaibu, a temporary staff member at the 465 NAF Hospital in Kano. The unfortunate incident unfolded as Shuaibu was allegedly subjected to a severe beating by an officer, prompting an outcry for justice from his bereaved family and the local community.

The distressing episode came to light through a statement issued by the Air Force Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet, in Kano. According to the statement, Shuaibu’s fatal encounter commenced when he was reportedly assaulted by an officer following a delay in executing a task assigned to him. The aftermath of this altercation culminated in Shuaibu’s untimely demise, leaving his loved ones and the community in a state of shock and grief.

Expressing his profound sorrow over the tragic turn of events, Air Vice Marshal Gabkwet disclosed, “The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar, has been apprised of the distressing news regarding the sudden passing of Mr. Yusuf Shuaibu. In response to this heartbreaking development, he has instructed the Commanders of the Hospital and NAF Base in Kano to convey his condolences, along with those of the entire NAF family, to the grieving relatives of the deceased.”

In a bid to unravel the circumstances leading to Shuaibu’s demise, the CAS has promptly ordered a comprehensive investigation into the matter. The decision to probe the incident underscores the Air Force’s commitment to upholding accountability and transparency in the face of such tragic occurrences.
