Alhaji Abdulsalam Abdulkadir, A A Zaura, a well-known Kano politician, has vowed to fight like a Lion to ensure that Asiwaju Bola Tinubu becomes Nigeria’s next president in 2023 if the All Progressives Congress (APC) zones its presidential ticket to the south in 2023.

“I will fight like a lion to ensure that Bola Ahmad Tunubu becomes President if power is agreed upon principles to be shifted to the south, based on my belief that Tunubu deserves the exalted seat more than any other person,” he says.

2023: Tinubu a Mentor to Me

A A Zaura, who made the submission while speaking with journalists in Kano, added that Tinubu was a mentor to him even before he decided to join the APC.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria, Zaura has his sights set on the Kano governorship after Abdullahi Ganduje’s tenure ends, and he took the opportunity to clarify that Tinubu is not the one sponsoring his ambition.

He also stated that he had the opportunity to become the Peoples Democratic Party‘s candidate for governor in his state during the 2015 governorship election, but he declined because he did not want anyone to be a godfather in his political career.

He argued that all politicians running for office should do what they do for a living first, so they aren’t tempted to steal from the public treasury once in power.

“People are insinuating that Bola Tunubu is supporting my candidacy, and they continue to dig to learn about my relationship with him, forgetting that my relationship with him goes beyond party politics because he is just like a father to me, this is because in the 2019 general elections, he was in APC and I was in GNP, and yet we sat together to discuss issues of national importance,” AA Zaura explained.

“If I’m desperate, as those who don’t know me claim, Kwankwaso wanted me to join PDP in 2015 so that he could make me Governor, but I said no, I wasn’t interested, my interest is to play Politics without any link to anybody, that is selfless Politics, and that is why I was in GNP.

“As a young vibrant politician, he believes that anyone contesting any political seat should have something as a business so that when he is elected, he will not see public treasury as personal and will strive to build rather than steal.

“My evolution in politics is that politics that would completely change the way of doing things, be it education, economy, or even politics itself,” he added. “We must adopt a global way of doing things, we must make our education compete with how pupils are taught globally on slides, not the usual blackboards, and so on and so forth.”

AA Zaura believes Governor Ganduje has done well in ensuring Kano’s peace, and that what his successor needs to do is build on the security by bringing in investors and making the economy boom for the residents.
