NBA Daily Wrap: King James leads Cavs to 11th straight win @therealkaunda

The Cleveland Cavaliers might have started off the season on a shaky note, but it looks like even before their starting point guard, Isaiah Thomas, returns to action, they already have the pieces to dominate and have gone on a hot streak.

Cavs tame Grizzlies to extend streak

The Cleveland Cavaliers stayed hot and defeated the Memphis Grizzlies 116-111. LeBron James had a 34-point, 12-assist double-double, Kevin Love a 20-point, 11-rebound double-double, JR Smith 17 points and five rebounds, and Dwyane Wade 16 and four assists.

Memphis were led by Tyreke Evans with a 31-point, 12-assist double-double, Marc Gasol had 27 points, six rebounds and four assists, JaMychal Green 16 and seven rebounds, and Andrew Harrison finished with 12.

Celtics dim Suns

The Boston Celtics beat the Phoenix Suns 116-111. Kyrie Irving had 19 points and five assists, Marcus Morris 17 and eight rebounds, Jaylen Brown also added 17, rookie Jayson Tatum had 15 and six rebounds, while Al Horford ended the game with 14-point, 11-assist double-double.

Devin Booker led Phoenix with 38 points, four rebounds and five assists, TJ Warren had 19, seven rebounds and four steals, and Tyson Chandler a 14-point, 18-rebound double-double.

Pelicans down Blazers

A Davis-less New Orleans Pelicans still managed to pull off a win against Portland Trail Blazers in a matchup that ended 123-116. DeMarcus Cousins had 38 points and eight rebounds, E’ Twaun Moore 19, Jrue Holiday 17, five rebounds and seven assists and Rajon Rondo finished with a 12-point, 10-assist double-double.

Portland were led by Damian Lillard with 29 points, five rebounds and eight assists, CJ McCollum had 17 and four rebounds, Meyers Leonard 17, and Nigerian forward Al-Farouq Aminu ended the game with seven points and five rebounds.

Sixers break Pistons

The Philadelphia 76ers defeated the Detroit Pistons 108-103 on the back of Cameroonian center Joel Embiid’s 25-point, 10-rebound double-double, Robert Covington had 25 points and eight rebounds, JJ Redick 18 and seven assists, while Dario Saric ended with 17 and seven rebounds.

Tobias Harris led Detroit with 27 points and seven rebounds, Reggie Jackson had 25 and four assists, Andre Drummond a 14-point, 11-rebound double-double, and Stanley Johnson finished with nine points and four rebounds.

The Rest

The Dallas Mavericks beat the Los Angeles Clippers 108-82 on JJ Barea’s 21-point, 10-assist double-double, a 24-point game from Gambian-German guard Dennis Schroder helped the Atlanta Hawks defeat the Brooklyn Nets 114-102, the Milwaukee Bucks beat the Sacramento Kings 109-104 on the back of Nigerian-Greek forward Giannis Antetokounmpo’s 33-point, 13-rebound double-double, and the Denver Nuggets defeated the Los Angeles Lakers 115-100.
