Nigerian comedian and content creator Nasboi has criticized fellow entertainer Carter Efe for claiming that skit making is no longer relevant.
The disagreement comes after Carter Efe made the controversial statement during an appearance on The Honest Bunch Podcast, where he suggested that the skit-making industry is “dead.”

Carter Efe’s Comments Spark Debate
During the interview, Carter Efe explained that he had become frustrated with skit making before transitioning into live streaming.
According to him, the feeling that the skit-making space was fading contributed to a period of depression before he decided to shift his focus to streaming content.
His remarks quickly sparked reactions across social media, with some content creators defending the skit industry while others supported his decision to explore new opportunities.
Nasboi Responds to the Claims
Reacting in a separate interview with Naija FM Lagos, Nasboi strongly disagreed with Carter Efe’s assessment of the industry.
He argued that while entertainers may evolve and explore new platforms, it is unfair to dismiss the industry that helped them gain recognition.
“Evolving is not a bad idea, but talking down on the industry that made you is a crime in my books,” Nasboi said.
The comedian also noted that he maintains a friendly relationship with Carter Efe despite the disagreement.
“Carter Efe is my friend. We speak every time. But he is a loose talker,” he added.
Skit Making Still Producing New Stars
Nasboi further emphasized that skit making remains an active and growing part of Nigeria’s digital entertainment space.
According to him, many new creators continue to gain popularity through short comedy videos across social media platforms.
“You can’t say skit making is dead. People are blowing up every day with skit making,” he explained.
He also pointed out that the evolution of creators into other areas — such as music, streaming, or acting — does not mean the original industry is declining.

“The fact that people evolve doesn’t mean that the industries they are leaving are dead,” Nasboi added.
