In a bid to strengthen economic ties and foster collaboration between Africa and the United States, Vice President Kashim Shettima is set to embark on a significant journey to Dallas, USA. The purpose of his trip is to represent President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the highly anticipated 2024 US-Africa Business Summit, organized by the esteemed Corporate Council on Africa.

The departure of Vice President Shettima from Abuja marks a pivotal moment in the realm of international relations and economic diplomacy. With a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of the intricate dynamics at play in such high-level gatherings, Shettima is poised to make a lasting impact at the summit.

According to a statement released by Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications, Office of the Vice President, the summit promises to be a melting pot of political and business leaders from across Africa, the United States, and beyond. The event is set to feature a series of high-level dialogues, networking sessions, and a plenary, all of which are scheduled to take place at the prestigious Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Centre in Dallas, Texas.

Among the distinguished guests expected to grace the summit are several African presidents, including Joseph Boakai of Liberia, Lazarus Chakwera of Malawi, Joao Lourenço of Angola, Mokgweetsi E. K. Masisi of Botswana, and José Maria Neves of Cape Verde. The presence of Nthomeng Majara, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Lesotho, further underscores the significance of this gathering of influential leaders.

Vice President Shettima’s agenda at the summit is packed with key engagements that underscore Nigeria’s commitment to fostering economic growth and development. He is slated to participate in the Roundtable on African Infrastructure Investment, where the focus will be on driving impact and ensuring sustainable returns on investments. Additionally, Shettima will take center stage at a high-level panel discussion on agribusiness, with a particular emphasis on transitioning from food insecurity to building thriving agribusinesses.

The Vice President will also lend his expertise to a plenary session on Navigating Africa’s Energy Future, signaling Nigeria’s proactive stance on addressing the continent’s energy needs. Furthermore, Shettima is set to chair a session dedicated to promoting the Invest in Nigeria initiative, showcasing the country’s vast investment opportunities and commitment to fostering a conducive business environment.
