In a 2018 interview with Rolling Stone, Agron finally cleared the air about the rumors. “I mean, there have been many stories about my dating life that are so wildly untrue,” she said. “That’s funny.” She went on to explain that while she and Swift were friends, she was not the inspiration for the song “22,” as some had speculated. “But I would not be the person to ask about that,” she added. “I cannot claim that!”
So, if Agron wasn’t dating Swift, who was she seeing? According to E! News, she was romantically linked to artist Harold Ancart following her split from Mumford & Sons’ Winston Marshall. Meanwhile, Swift was rumored to be dating The 1975 frontman Matty Healy. “Taylor and Matty like each other,” a source told ET. “Taylor has a crush on Matty and they are having a good time hanging out. Matty also thinks Taylor is awesome and incredibly talented, too. They dated briefly in the past.”
While the #SwiftGron rumors may have been nothing more than a figment of the internet’s imagination, it’s clear that both Agron and Swift have had their fair share of high-profile relationships over the years. Swift, in particular, has been the subject of endless speculation about her dating life, with many of her songs thought to be inspired by her past romances.
