Haim Saban net worth 2026 is estimated at about $3.3 billion, with the media entrepreneur’s fortune rooted in television, investments and a series of major deals that turned children’s entertainment into a global business.

Saban is best known to many viewers as the businessman behind Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, but the franchise is only one chapter in a much larger financial story. Over decades, he moved from music and television production into ownership stakes, broadcasting assets and investment vehicles that created wealth far beyond a single hit show.

The scale of that fortune puts him among a relatively small group of entertainment figures whose wealth comes from ownership rather than performance fees. That is a useful comparison with figures such as George Lucas and his multibillion-dollar Star Wars fortune, where control of valuable intellectual property became more important than a normal salary.

Why Haim Saban is worth about $3.3 billion

Forbes estimated Saban’s real-time fortune at roughly $3.3 billion in September 2026. The publication identifies television networks and investments as the main sources of his wealth and traces much of the story back to the extraordinary commercial success of Power Rangers.

Saban’s career began in music. Born in Alexandria, Egypt, in 1944, he moved with his family to Israel as a child and later worked as a musician, concert promoter and composer. He eventually relocated to France and then Los Angeles, where television gave him a much larger platform for building intellectual property.

His breakthrough came from adapting Japanese action footage for a new American children’s series. Mighty Morphin Power Rangers launched in 1993 and quickly became a television and merchandising phenomenon. Toys, licensing and international distribution made the franchise much more valuable than the television episodes alone.

That ownership model is a recurring pattern in major entertainment fortunes. Wowplus has also examined how Oprah Winfrey built wealth through media ownership, another example of a public figure increasing long-term value by owning businesses and production assets rather than relying only on appearance fees.

The Fox Family deal changed the scale of Saban’s wealth

Power Rangers helped Saban expand into a partnership with News Corp. through Fox Kids Worldwide. The business combined programming, channels and a large library of children’s entertainment. In 2001, the partners sold Fox Family Worldwide to The Walt Disney Company in a transaction valued at more than $5 billion including assumed debt.

That sale was a defining moment because it converted years of television ownership into a large pool of capital that could be invested elsewhere. Saban later formed Saban Capital Group, which has invested across media, communications and other businesses in the United States and overseas.

One of his most prominent later investments was Univision. Saban and a private-equity group acquired the Spanish-language broadcaster in a $13.7 billion leveraged buyout in 2007. The investment went through a difficult period after the financial crisis, but it demonstrated the much larger scale at which Saban operated after his early television success.

In 2010, he bought the Power Rangers franchise back from Disney. Eight years later, Hasbro acquired Power Rangers and other Saban entertainment assets for about $522 million in cash and stock. That second sale showed how a property first launched in the 1990s could continue producing substantial value decades later.

His fortune comes from ownership, not a celebrity paycheck

Saban’s wealth is sometimes grouped with celebrity net worth stories because Power Rangers made his name familiar in entertainment. Financially, however, his path looks more like that of an investor and media owner. Large equity positions, asset sales and long-term investments matter much more than annual compensation.

This distinction also helps explain why billionaire estimates can move even when there is no dramatic new deal. Private investments are not priced every minute like public stocks, while the value of media assets can change with transactions, market conditions and the performance of portfolio companies.

That makes any net worth figure an estimate rather than a bank balance. The $3.3 billion figure reflects an assessment of Saban’s holdings and liabilities at a point in time. It should not be read as cash sitting in an account, and it can change as asset values change.

A similar ownership story appears in other entertainment fortunes. Wowplus has looked at Arnold Schwarzenegger’s business and investment wealth, where decades of real estate and equity decisions became as important as film earnings.

Power Rangers remains the clearest symbol of the fortune

Saban has made money from many businesses, but Power Rangers remains the easiest way to understand the logic behind his wealth. He identified a format with international potential, adapted it for a new market, owned the resulting brand and expanded it into toys, licensing, television and film.

The later Fox Family sale and the second Power Rangers transaction multiplied the value created by that early bet. Instead of treating a hit programme as a one-time production job, Saban used intellectual property as a foundation for larger media deals.

He and his wife Cheryl have also become major philanthropists. Their giving has supported medical, educational and cultural organisations, while the Saban name appears on institutions and programmes in Los Angeles and elsewhere.

At 81, Saban’s 2026 fortune is therefore best understood as the result of repeated ownership decisions across more than three decades. The colourful superheroes may be the public face of the story, but the billions came from the less glamorous work behind them: rights, distribution, equity, acquisitions and well-timed sales.
