Quectel’s RG620T 5G Module Receives FCC and PTCRB Certifications

Quectel Wireless Solutions, a leading global supplier of IoT modules and solutions, announced today that its 5G New Radio (NR) module series, the RG620T, has received certifications from the FCC/ IC/ CE and RCM. The RG620T is the first 5G module based on the MediaTek T830 System-on-Chip (SoC) to receive all these certifications, paving the way for the module’s imminent market launch around the world.

The certifications obtained by the RG620T open up opportunities for customers hoping to deploy their 5G fixed wireless access (FWA) devices across different regions globally. With the RG620T, customers can expect ultra-high 5G data speeds, quad-core A55 CPU, and the latest Wi-Fi 7 connection.

What sets the RG620T apart from other 5G modules is its innovative antenna frequency band design, flash memory, and QuecOpen, making it a premier solution for the FWA market, known for its high demand for wireless performance and design flexibility.

The RG620T comes in two variants – the RG620T-NA for the North American market and the RG620T-EU for the EMEA, Asia-Pacific, and Brazilian markets. It supports up to 300 MHz downlink bandwidth and NR 4CA, allowing 5G devices to use the module to achieve download speeds of up to 7.01 Gbps.

Additionally, the RG620T can support up to 200 MHz uplink bandwidth and NR 2CA, delivering uplink speeds of up to 2.5 Gbps. Its high bandwidth and low latency features make the RG620T ideal for innovative 5G use cases such as eXtended reality (XR) and cloud live broadcast. These features enable real-time wireless transmissions of high-definition content, while the low latency feature effectively reduces dizziness caused by image lag, leading to an immersive experience for users.

The MediaTek T830 platform embedded in Quectel’s RG620T module integrates a quad-core Cortex-A55 CPU with a base frequency of 2.2 GHz. It also features a built-in M80 5G modem using MediaTek’s 5G UltraSave technologies to ensure optimal energy efficiency for all 5G connection conditions. These powerful features guarantee that 5G devices using the RG620T can take advantage of the CPU’s residual performance, improve processing efficiency, and reduce costs.

One of the significant benefits of the SoC chipset solution is that it does not require a host controller in the debugging workload of USB or PCIe interfaces, reducing customer workload. The module’s high throughput rate is also not restricted by the USB or PCIe interface.

With advanced features such as the hardware-level MediaTek Network Processing Unit (NPU), Wi-Fi Offload Engine, MediaTek 5G UltraSave power-saving technology, Power Class 1.5 (PC1.5), and PC2 High Power User Equipment (HPUE), the RG620T has lower power consumption. It is, therefore, an ideal solution for a variety of 5G terminals, including indoor and outdoor CPEs, home gateways, enterprise gateways, mobile hotspots, industrial routers, DTU, XR, and 4K/8K ultra-high-definition live broadcasts.

The RG620T series also integrates multiple interfaces such as USXGMII, PCIe 4.0, PCIe 3.0, and USB3.2, enabling customers to develop their designs with ease.

Apart from cellular communication, the RG620T offers multiple Wi-Fi combinations, including a tri-band/dual-band 4×4 Wi-Fi 7 solution for 5G CPE and dual-band 2×2 Wi-Fi 7 for 5G mobile hotspots. The flexible options enable FWA terminals to leverage both 5G and Wi-Fi 7 capabilities, allowing customers to explore more innovative application scenarios such as 4K/8K video transmission, VR/AR, cloud gaming, remote work, video conferencing, and cloud computing.

The module also features EasyMesh, which facilitates easy setup of mesh networks with different IoT devices for seamless wireless connections. Its support of the WPA3 R3 encryption protocol brings a higher level of safety to IoT devices.

Quectel provides a variety of high-performance 5G antennas aimed at boosting wireless connectivity significantly to enable IoT developers to bundle the RG620T 5G modules with Quectel’s antennas and pre-certification services, therefore reducing both cost and time-to-market for their 5G IoT devices.

With the certification of the RG620T, Quectel has once again demonstrated its commitment to providing customers with innovative IoT modules and solutions to meet their diverse needs.
