Coral Beams

Milani Coral Beams Harmony Blush Palette ($13.00 for 0.30 oz.) is supposed to be a “high-impact, buildable blush” that “blends easily” but simultaneously has “richly pigmented shades” that can be used alone or together. The top three sections are larger, but only the top section (the one that often has more shimmer) is truly large enough to accommodate the average blush brush. I think it would be more practical to use two or three shades at a time, rather than only one.

The quality of the powder varied a lot from shade to shade, palette to palette, with some shades being softer and more pliable and others being more firmly pressed and yielded sheerer coverage. The way they are described on Milani’s website is contradictory (at least, in the order/way they said it), but on the back of the compact itself, it says “four pigment-rich and ultra blendable blush tones” and so I am holding the blushes to that: “pigment-rich.” The coverage varied from medium to opaque with most shades within the palettes being blendable. A few shades darkened on me a few minutes after initial application (which was the point where I took photos, so you could see the result). The wear ranged from seven to eight and a half hours on me.

Coral Beams swirled together to create a brighter, medium coppery orange hue with a pearly sheen. It had semi-opaque, buildable pigmentation that applied easily and blended out without issue. When I used all the shades together, the blush color stayed on well for seven and a half hours before fading on my cheeks.

Coral Beams #1

Coral Beams #1 is a soft, medium orange with warm undertones and a golden pearl. It had good pigmentation that applied with ease to bare skin–even and blendable–paired with a soft consistency that wasn’t too firm nor was it so soft that it kicked up excess product in the pan. The color lasted for seven and a half hours on me.

Coral Beams #2

Coral Beams #2 is a muted, medium copper with warm, reddish undertones and a satin finish. The color payoff was nearly opaque, while the texture was a bit firmer in the pan and took a heavier hand to dislodge product from the surface. It blended out without much work and sat well on the skin. The blush showed signs of fading after seven and a half hours of wear.

Coral Beams #3

Coral Beams #3 is a soft, light-medium pink-coral with warm undertones and a satin finish. It had medium coverage, which was buildable to semi-opaque coverage with two to three layers. I noticed this shade darkened quite a bit on me, almost like it turned pinker and brighter. The texture was stiffer in the pan, which made getting product onto the brush a challenge but seemed to blend out just fine. It wore well for eight hours on me.

Coral Beams #4

Coral Beams #4 is a medium, peachy coral with warm undertones and a matte finish. It had a soft, blendable consistency that yielded good color payoff. It was just shy of being opaque, but it was easily built up by patting a touch more on top of the initial layer. The blush could be sheered out and diffused for less coverage if desired as it was quite forgiving. This shade lasted for eight hours on me before fading.
