According to rights activist Chief Rita Lori-Ogbebor, the Federal Government should bring to justice those found guilty of embezzling budgetary allocations in the forensic audit of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC.
Delta State has the honor of appointing either its Managing Director or Chairman, but Itsekiri can occupy any of those positions, she insisted.
She told reporters in a statement that Itsekiri has never produced a chairman or a managing director, despite it being the state’s largest oil producer.
President Buhari has been urged to consider someone from the area in the spirit of fairness and justice, as a result of the petition.
Inaugurate the board of directors and prosecute those indicted, Buhari said during the audit of the NDDC.
“I want to thank God for bringing the truth to light,” she said. A lot of people abused me in the papers and on the internet when I went to court and sought redress. It was alleged that I was interfering in matters about which I had no knowledge whatsoever.
Thanks to the President and everyone else involved, including the staff at the White House. It has been confirmed by the forensic audit that what I’ve been battling for has been vindicated. Because many of the budgets allocated for project execution have been mismanaged, there are many abandoned projects in the region. It’s something I’ve always said in my fight for the Niger Delta’s development.
God bless the Buhari administration for exposing the truth.
“Now that the truth has been revealed, we must ensure that the justice demanded by this issue is carried out. And those found guilty must face criminal charges after the white paper is released. This includes the ability to appoint their own children and friends to leadership positions within the NDDC. Those people must no longer exist in that area. To prevent this type of massive theft from happening again, a new leadership model must be implemented. As you may recall, I appeared in court to argue that, in accordance with NDDC’s rotating leadership model, it’s now Delta State’s turn. In Delta State, it’s the Itsekiri’s turn to take the stage.
NDDC: it is time for Itsekiri
That said, President Buhari should keep Itsekiri in mind and not lose sight of the fact that it is now his turn to lead.

In his words, “The funds of the Niger Delta should no longer go to those whose sole goal is to build their universities. Who provides them with funding? What are their universities’ contributions to the Niger Delta? Nobody has ever built a transportation university that would assist in the development of our waterways and the exploitation of the coastal potential of the region. These so-called leaders of Niger Delta extraction should not be allowed to continue looting our funds.
Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio, presented the documents to Buhari, who was represented by Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr. Abubakar Malami.
Just before he handed the report over, Akpabio revealed that the forensic audit covered a total of 13,777 contracts awarded from 2001 to 2019, with a total contract value of over N3trillion.
