Beauty and the Beast Eye Palette

LORAC Beauty and the Beast PRO Eyeshadow Palette ($48.00 for 0.32 oz.) includes 16 eyeshadows that are supposed to be all new and using the brand’s PRO formula. The eyeshadows felt smooth, finely-milled, and had some powderiness (as a result of being so soft) and felt comparable to past Pro palettes, though I have found that the original Pro palettes seem to have more substance and adhere better (without primer) than newer palettes.

Some shades were pigmented, while others were sheer, and some applied fine without primer and others sheered out so easily that it was impossible to maintain opaque coverage on the lid. The wear was six to eight hours with a lot of shades falling short. The palette itself is massive, as it was designed to resemble a book, which keeps with the theme but still made it bulky and not at all travel-friendly.

Dream It

Dream It is a soft, creamy gold with warm undertones and a metallic sheen. The eyeshadow was incredibly soft and silky to the touch, though it was prone to sheering out a bit on the lid when blended out. It had good pigmentation but needed a primer to adhere well. The color started to fade on me after seven hours of wear.

Time Keeper

Time Keeper is a medium, taupe-brown with warmer undertones and a metallic sheen. It had opaque color payoff with a smooth, creamy texture that wasn’t too powdery in the pan, so it applied well to bare skin and blended out without losing its intensity immediately. The eyeshadow lasted for eight hours on me.

Our Guest

Our Guest is a muted, medium-dark gray with cool, blue undertones and a mostly matte finish. It had semi-sheer pigmentation, which was buildable to semi-opaque coverage on bare skin. The texture was soft but thin and dusty, which kept it from building up fully. It stayed on well for six and a half hours.

Beast Mode

Beast Mode is a dark, navy blue with subtle, cool undertones and a fine, blue pearl. It had semi-opaque pigmentation that applied decently to bare skin, but it looked slightly patchy and took more work to diffuse and blend out. The texture was thinner, a little dusty but did feel soft in the pan. It wore well for seven hours on me before fading noticeably.

Spell Breaker

Spell Breaker is a deep brown with cool undertones and larger, gold flecks of glitter over a matte finish. The glitter did not translate onto the lid, so this looked like a matte eyeshadow in practice. The texture was silky and smooth, though powdery, and it sheered out from mostly opaque coverage to medium coverage as soon as I tried to spread the product around. It wore well for seven hours on me.

Inner Beauty

Inner Beauty is a soft, light-medium pink with cool, blue undertones and a matte finish. It had semi-opaque pigmentation with a soft, silky texture that was soft enough that it kicked up some powdery excess in the pan. The eyeshadow sheered out noticeably on the lid and was hard to build up without a tacky primer. It started to fade noticeably on me after six hours of wear.

Tick Tock

Tick Tock is a muted, medium mauve with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. It was quite powdery, though the texture seemed more substantial as the eyeshadow adhered better to bare skin than expected. It might have been messier to use but applied more evenly and had almost opaque coverage in practice. It started to fade on me after seven hours of wear.

Real You

Real You is a light-medium pink with subtle, warm undertones and flecks of sparkle. It had sheer coverage, which was not buildable, even with a primer. The texture was drier, firmer, and difficult to blend out on the lid. This shade seemed to wear for around six hours but was hard to tell as there was so little of it that applied to begin with.
