The Resident Electoral Commissioner for Akwa Ibom State, Mr Mike Igini has said the commission has not declared a winner in Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial District elections, Senator Akpabio’s district.

Igini said this on Monday in Uyo at the resumption of the announcement of results for the Presidential election in the state.

Igini stated this following the speculations and reports on the social media that Senator Godswill Akpabio has lost the elections in Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial District to the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Chris Ekpenyong.

Also Akpabio’s supporters on their own have claimed that the former Senate Minority Leader has also won and retained his seat in his Ikot Ekpene senatorial district.

However, the REC dispelled the rumours saying, “Nobody has declared election result in Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial District”.

Meanwhile, results from LGAs in the senatorial district excluding Essien Udim indicate that the PDP candidate Engr Chris Ekpeyong was leading with about 50,000 votes.

Essien Udim is the LGA of Akpabio and has about 100,000 registered voters
