Manchester United legend, Rio Ferdinand, has heaped praises on England youngster, Jude Bellingham.
Ferdinand said Bellingham, 19, is ahead of England legends Frank Lampard, Steven Gerrard, and Paul Scholes when the trio was his age.
Bellingham enjoyed a sparkling World Cup debut on Monday afternoon, scoring a goal as England thrashed Iran 6-2.
The Borussia Dortmund midfielder rose highest to head in Luke Shaw’s cross and opened the scoring for the Three Lions against Carlos Quieroz’s men.
Bellingham then went on to dominate the midfield as England clicked into gear and won their 2022 FIFA World Cup opener.
His impressive performance for Gareth Southgate’s side earned him plaudits from across the footballing world.
“We have had great midfielders play for England in our generation down the years. Scholes, the Gerrards, the Lampards, to name three, Gascoigne, etc,” Ferdinand told Vibe with Five.
“None of those guys were doing what Jude Bellingham is doing at this age on the world stage, none of them. This kid’s playing Champions League football the lot, he is doing everything.
“I’m not saying he is better than them, I am not saying he is going to be better than them, but right now, at this age, he is doing what none of them have done. He is ahead.”
