At the intersection of family ties and political views lies a tale of divergence in opinion between Jack Quaid and his father, Dennis Quaid, over their perspectives on former President Donald Trump’s handling of the COVID-19 crisis.

The rift between the Quaid duo became evident in September 2020, as reports surfaced of Dennis’ involvement in an advertisement purportedly aimed at bolstering then-President Trump’s response to the health emergency. Unlike his father, Jack made his sentiments loud and clear just two days after the news broke. Taking to the virtual realm of social media, he boldly declared, “Hey, it’s 11:24 pm on a Saturday, and I just thought this would be a good time to say: F**k Donald Trump,” on the popular platform X, formerly known as Twitter.

Despite the uproar surrounding the ad, Dennis swiftly moved to distance himself from any notions of endorsing Trump. In an Instagram video response posted a day before his son’s sharp rebuke, he clarified, “Nothing could be further from the truth.” He emphasized that he had not received any payment for the interview and emphasized that its sole purpose was to educate the public on the vital necessity of adhering to health guidelines. Notwithstanding this clarification, Dennis had earlier expressed admiration for Trump’s crisis management approach, stating to The Daily Beast in April 2020, “To tell you the truth, I think the president is handling it in a good way,” while affirming his status as an Independent.

Despite Dennis Quaid’s shifting stance towards Trump, his son Jack has stayed resolute in his disapproval. In the wake of the Capitol siege by Trump loyalists on January 6, 2021, Jack took to social media to articulate his disdain for the former president once again, tweeting, “I repeat: F**k Donald Trump. This is insane.” While Jack hasn’t overtly addressed his father’s political inclinations in public, it appears that their bond as father and son remains robust, transcending their differing opinions on Trump.
