Ademola said he and his wife, Funke, have been together as a couple for 10 years. Both are tailors by profession, and reside in Ikotun area of Lagos. “When my wife was pregnant, I never bargained for delivery through Cesarean Section because her two previous deliveries were normal. “But this time around, the doctor said CS would be required. Since I didn’t want to lose her, I agreed that the procedure should be carried out.” “This is our third child. My wife was attending antenatal clinic when she travelled to the village, but as her date of delivery approached, she returned to Lagos. “I had no money to enable ger get registered in hospital when she returned, so she went somewhere in Isheri to one church that had a maternity. “However, as delivery progressed, the church hospital informed us that they couldn’t take the delivery and referred us to this other hospital in Ikotun, where she eventually put to be through emergency Caesarean Section.” However, Ademola said he has been unable to offset the N170,000 bill of the surgery. “I ran around and was able to raise N49,000 but the hospital insists on collecting the full sum. Lamenting that he is broke and unable to raise money, he confessed that the Yuletide is quite bleak for him and his family, “Both mother and baby are home for the Yuletide, but things are hard and my tailoring business is not going well at all. “Even to feed and take care of the baby and other members of the family is a challenge. We cannot even buy some of the essential things the baby requires, but my main worry is how I am going to settle the hospital bill. I have borrowed and borrowed, but unable to raise anything substantial.” Ademola however said he intends to fulfil his promise to pay up the balance of N121,000 in appreciation of the spirited effort of the hospital to save his wife and baby. “I am passionately appealing to Nigerians to please in the name of God, come to our aid and help settle this debt.” If you are touched and wish to assist kindly send your donation to Mrs. Funke Folake Sunday, GTBank 0107509324.
