Jersey Shore star ‘The Situation’ faces up to 15 years in jail for tax fraud

Jersey Shore reality show star, Mike ‘The Situation’ Sorrentino, 35, and his brother Marc Sorrentino are facing up to 15 years in jail for tax fraud, after they pled guilty.

According to the U.S. Department of Justice, The Situation and his brother, Marc  have “agreed to plead guilty” to the charges leveled against them. His brother, Marc also serves as The Situation’s manager and partner in MPS Entertainment

The brothers have been accused of not paying the federal income tax owed on $8.9 million earned they earned between 2010 and 2012.

In September 2014, Sorrentino was charged with tax fraud, allegedly avoiding paying taxes on $8.9 million. According to the US Attorney, Sorrentino and his brother, Marc, established S Corporations that paid for personal expenses and failed to report income.

In April 2017, further charges were levied against Sorrentino and his brother, alleging tax evasion as well as the structuring of bank deposits to avoid reporting thresholds

The Situation reportedly initially rejected the plea deal that was offered by prosecutors last week, but changed his mind.

According to US Weekly, Sorrentino’s lawyer Henry E. Klingeman said:

“We have court scheduled for this Friday, January 19, at 11 a.m. That’s all I can say until then.”
