It has been apparent for a while now that Hugo Lloris’ tenure at Tottenham Hotspur is coming to an end. He was expected to depart during the summer transfer window after being omitted from the pre-season tour. However, he remained at the club, which surprised many people.
The wowplus.net was report that Tottenham Hotspur had allowed Hugo Lloris to negotiate with the American club LAFC. Journalist Paul O’Keefe later confirmed this news by stating on X (formerly known as Twitter) that the French World Cup champion was indeed in advanced discussions.
Now, Fabrizio Romano, who is often reliable in transfer speculations has indeed confirmed that the previous claims were accurate. He revealed that MLS was indeed being considered as a concrete possibility by the veteran.

What does this mean for Hugo Lloris?
Lloris has not featured for Spurs since April, when he was replaced at halftime during the 6-1 defeat against Newcastle United. Injury saw the veteran keeper miss the remainder of the 2022/23 campaign, with Fraser Forster taking his place.
It’s rather sad that for a player who was as illustrious at the club as Lloris was, his last memory in a Spurs shirt would be conceding five goals against the Magpies within 20 minutes of the game.
The Frenchman has been very clear that he does not want to be the backup elsewhere and has rejected plenty of offers in the summer. He also seems to have an eye on his family when making a decision on where to move to. All things considered, the MLS is a very exciting possibility.

The standard of life in America is extremely good and Lloris should have no issues adapting to the league. He will get the regular game time that he is craving for. He would be a great addition to the MLS that has gained prominence in recent months thanks to Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets, Jordi Alba and Luis Suarez.
What does this mean for Tottenham?
Well, Tottenham have already moved on from Hugo Lloris. In fact, they have moved on in some style, thanks to Guglielmo Vicario. Signed for a measly price of €19m, Vicario is proving to be a revelation in the Premier League.

Lloris has already been the third choice in the pecking order of goalkeepers and his exit isn’t going to affect Tottenham much. However, from an emotional standpoint, the Frenchman has been a great servant for the club and nostalgia to kick in.
Regardless, the ship has sailed. It’s time for us to part ways with Lloris. In fact, we might be a few months late in doing so. Let’s hope the Frenchman can continue his glorious career in the MLS and soar to greater heights.
