Aston Villa should complete the signing of John Terry within the next 24 hours, according to Sky sources.

Negotiations have progressed well with the former England captain, with only one or two minor contractual issues to address.

Sources indicate Harry Redknapp has accepted defeat in his pursuit of Terry, and his attempts to lure him to Midlands rivals Birmingham City.

Terry posted pictures of a golf outing with Bruce last month, as well as workout videos with the Villa boss’ son, Alex.

The 36-year old also had offers to remain in the Premier League, with West Bromwich Albion, Swansea or Bournemouth but was reluctant to play against Chelsea.

But it now looks likely that Terry, who’s Chelsea contract has expired after two decades at Stamford Bridge, will move to the Midlands to work with Steve Bruce.
