SOKAPDA Europe Condemns Incessant Killings in Southern Kaduna

The Southern Kaduna People in Diaspora (SOKAPDA) Europe, a group representing the indigenous people of Southern Kaduna, has strongly condemned the ongoing killings and destruction of properties in the region. In a statement signed by Mr. Casimir P Biriyok and Dr. Janet Nale, the President and Secretary of the group respectively, SOKAPDA expressed deep concern over the deteriorating security situation in Southern Kaduna.

According to the statement, the group finds it incomprehensible that human lives seem to have little or no value in Nigeria, particularly in Kaduna State. The attacks, which are targeted at innocent civilians, are aimed at inflicting maximum damage without any regard for the young, elderly, or women. The group further accused the masterminds of the attacks of pursuing a scorched earth policy aimed at the total extermination of a people.

SOKAPDA Europe also criticized the political class for their inaction and lack of concern for the plight of the Southern Kaduna people. The group called on elected representatives at both the state and federal levels to take the lead in finding a solution to the crisis. The statement stressed that the political class should not wait until they need votes to remain in office before addressing the issue.

In addition, SOKAPDA Europe called on the Association of Southern Kaduna Lawyers to challenge the unwillingness of the state and federal governments to respond positively to the cries of the people for respite from the incessant attacks by both miscreants and political marauders. The group urged the lawyers’ association to take legal action against the government’s failure to protect the people and bring the perpetrators of the attacks to justice.
