Congratulations are in order for singer Rachel Platten!
On Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2019, the “Fight Song” hitmaker took to Instagram to announce that she and her husband, former lawyer Kevin Lazan, have welcomed their first child, a baby girl.
“Introducing Violet Skye Lazan,” Platten wrote to her 525,000 followers, captioning a sweet snapshot of the mother-daughter duo. “Born delicious & cuddly on 1.26, early in the am. There is so much about this massive love that i want to share but don’t yet know how to. I am sure the words will come soon.”
The new mom added, “For now we are busy falling deeeeply in love (and keeping our heads above water). Thank YOU all so much for your kindness and support and curiosity and gentleness as i fumbled my way through this crazy brutal amazing journey to get here to motherhood.” Platten concluded her heartfelt note with, “Wow. I’m a mom. Xoxo, rach.”
As Nicki Swift previously reported, Platten, 37, and Lazan, 38, first shared that they were expecting baby no. 1 in July 2018. “This is one of my most exciting announcements, but also one of my most vulnerable. So here goes…. I am pregnant!!” the “You Belong” singer wrote on social media at the time. “I can’t believe I’m finally typing these words – I have wanted to share this news for months.” She added, “The truth is, I am overwhelmed with love, joy and happiness about our baby.”
During an appearance on Good Morning America that October, Platten revealed that the happy couple were expecting a daughter. According to Southern Weddings, the proud parents tied the knot in 2010 during a Jewish ceremony held in Bristol, Rhode Island.
In other celeb baby announcements this week, Bachelor in Paradise couple Jade Roper and Tanner Tolbert recently shared that they are expecting their second child. Alongside photos of the married pair, which also feature 1-year-old daughter Emerson Avery and sonogram images, Roper wrote to her Instagram followers, “Baby #2 is adding to our crew!!” The reality TV star continued, “We are overjoyed our bundle of love will be joining us in August! We’ve been dreaming of you for a while now, and you are already loved beyond imaginable, sweet baby.”
