Nigeria news : Niger correspondent chapel of NUJ inaugurates new Exco, The Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Niger State chapter has inaugurated its newly elected Executives in a free and fair election.

The officials are to steer the affairs of the chapel for a period of three years.

During the chapel elections, Yakubu Mustapha of the People’s Daily Newspaper emerged as the new Chairman and Abdul Isa of VON as Vice Chairman of the chapel.

Also, Mr. Daniel Atori of New Telegraph Newspapers defeated Emperor Simon of Channels Television to emerge Secretary of the Chapel.

Similarly, Priscilla Dennis of DAILY POST defeated Samson Ojagbane of African Independent Television, AIT, to emerge as the chapel’s Financial Secretary, just as Mathew Jwantu of Standard Newspaper became the new Treasurer.

In his brief inaugural speech, the new chairman, Mustapha Bina thanked the members for voting him alongside other chapel Executive, while promising them good leadership.

He pledged to operate an all-inclusive regime, promising to be a listening leader that would take the chapel to greater heights.

Also, the State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Muhammad Sani Idris who spoke through his Technical Assistant, Comrade Iliya Garba assured the new Exco of the State government’s unflinching support and cooperation, when the need arises.

The State Chairman of the NUJ, Niger State Council, Comrade Abdu Idris represented by the Council Secretary, Abu Nmodu urged the new Exco to always refer to the NUJ constitutions in the discharge of their duties.

He then called on members of the chapel to work in unity to improve the lives of its members particularly in areas of welfare and training.

The newly elected executive members were sworn in by the NUJ, Niger State Council Secretary, Comrade Abu Nmodu.
