Kidnapped final year student found dead in Delta

Ovie Okpare

A final year student of Accounting Department at Novena University, Ogume, in Ukwuani Local Government Area of Delta State, Nathaniel Edehwosa, has been found dead two days after he was kidnapped.

It was learnt that the student was abducted by some armed youths from Obiaruku over a lingering boundary dispute with the neighbouring Amai community.

Sources told our correspondent that the decomposing body of the student was discovered on Thursday by a combined team of the private university and a local vigilance group in Amai who searched for the student after he was declared missing.

SUNDAY PUNCH gathered that Edehwosa, an indigene of Eku in Ethiope East Council Area of the state, was waylaid by gun-wielding Obiaruku youths, who reportedly set up roadblocks on the Obiaruku end of the Kwale/Amai/Obiaruku road where over 10 persons had been killed over a disputed boundary.

A source said the deceased was mistaken for an indigene of Amai community embroiled in the boundary tussle with Obiaruku and was dragged out of a vehicle he was travelling in to school.

When contacted, spokesperson for the police in Delta, Andrew Aniamaka, said he was aware of Edehwosa’s abduction but could not confirm if he was found dead.
