There are numerous numbers of myths and lies surrounding entrepreneurship. These lies have made some promising entrepreneurs to chase shadows, run of out of breathe and quit prematurely.

From “hard work is the only key” to “success to if you can believe it, you can achieve it”, the list of lies is endless. Below are some of the lies we have demystified:

  1. Good things come to those who wait

Yeah right, they will get to eat the leftovers of those who hustle, who are unreasonable, and who are persistent till they achieve their dreams.

  1. Entrepreneurs are born, not made.

No one is born ready. Success is not served a la carte, it is a buffet. You have to go for it! The Dangote’s, Elumelu’s and the Elon Musk’s of this world, all worked their way to the top with hard work, dedication, and a never-give-up attitude.

  1. All you need is a good idea.

An excellent idea is an important first step, but your business will not take off as a success unless you have a smart strategy mixed with passion and an attitude of never-give-up.

  1. Hard work is the only key to success.

If na by hard work, the cart pusher should be the richest man on earth. Simply working long hours does not necessarily mean you’ll be more successful. Business leaders know the value of efficiency and have figured out an optimized schedule that works for them. Smart work is the real deal.

  1. If you can believe it, you can achieve it.

Believing alone is not enough to achieve anything, unless you wan grow old for bus stop! You have to put in the work! Believe and act on it! You have to take action. Stop aspiring to perspire. Aspire, work hard and success will come.
