Hearts have been handed a blow ahead of Friday’s Edinburgh derby after on-loan Manchester United youngster Demetri Mitchell was ruled out for the remainder of the season.
The talented full-back, who has started Hearts’ last nine games, has returned to parent club United for treatment after picking up a knee injury in February’s 1-1 draw with Ross County.
Mitchell made the temporary switch to Tynecastle Park in January and scored in Hearts’ 3-0 Scottish Premiership victory against St Johnstone last month.
The 21-year-old was nominated for United’s Reserve Team Player of the Year award last season and made his senior debut for the club in a 2-0 win over Crystal Palace on the final day of last season.
