2019 MTV VMAs: Complete list of winners

The 2019 MTV VMAs — which aired live on Monday, August 26 — are officially done and dusted. Many a Moon Person were handed out at the ceremony, with a number of artists making big sweeps and scooping up several statues. If you somehow missed out on the fanfare or are still hyped up over the event and want to relive the madness and magic, we’ve got you covered with the full list of winners from this year’s MTV Video Music Awards.

Taylor Swift won big, taking home awards for both Video of the Year and Video for Good for “You Need to Calm Down.” The 29-year-old songstress, who also performed her LGBTQ+ anthem and her seemingly-Joe-Alywn-inspired track “Lover” at the VMAs, gave a rousing speech urging fans to continue fighting for equal rights in the U.S.

Pop princess Ariana Grande was recognized as the Artist of the Year at the 2019 VMAs, won the Song of the Summer award for her team-up “Boyfriend” with Social House, and took the VMA for Best Direction for “7 Rings.”

Despite not being in attendance, K-pop group BTS picked up a pair of VMAs: the first-ever Best K-pop award and the VMA for Best Group — which the seven-member boy band beat out 5 Seconds of Summer, Backstreet Boys, BLACKPINK, CNCO, the Jonas Brothers, PRETTYMUCH, and Why Don’t We in order to win.

Lil Nas X also had a big night at this year’s VMAs. He performed as the President of the U.S. in the year 2079 while singing his heart out to “Panini,” won his first-ever VMA for Song of the Year (for “Old Town Road,” naturally), and created a meme while giving his acceptance speech.

There were many more winners — like Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello, who came this close to kissing during their performance of Best Collaboration winner “Señorita” — at the 2019 MTV VMAs. Check them all out below.
