Tribunal Upholds Yayannan’s Election into Jigawa Assembly

In a landmark decision, the Jigawa State House of Assembly Election Petition Tribunal has dismissed the petition filed by the All Progressives Congress (APC) seeking to overturn the victory of Muhammad Kabiru Yayannan, the member representing Birnin Kudu constituency, of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The three-member panel, led by Justice Agada Okeke, unanimously affirmed Yayannan as the duly elected member.

Kantoga had requested the tribunal to withdraw Yayannan’s Certificate of Return and declare him as the rightful winner of the March 18 election.
