Jonathan Anderson turned to herringbone tweed coats and Fair Isle sweaters for a British-accented collaboration with Uniqlo — his first with the Japanese retailer. The 33-piece collection has an “Outlander”-inspired, tartan touch, with a surplus of winter staples lined with the criss-crossed pattern.

“The inspiration for much of the clothing we wear today was uniforms, work wear and sportswear that originated in the British Isles,” Yuki Katsuta, Senior Vice President of Fast Retailing and Head of Research and Design at Uniqlo said in a press release.”We have combined the energy, creativity and traditional touches of J.W. Anderson with our fit, fabrics and functionality, as a part of our quest to craft wardrobe essentials that are enduringly appealing.”

The capsule indeed captures Anderson’s modern interpretation of masculinity and femininity, with a range of thought-provoking silhouettes — the collection is made up of oversize coats and boxy turtle neck sweaters. And in true Uniqlo form, the innovative retailer has promised to keep us warm with their “heattech” scarves, extra fine cotton shirts and extra fine merino knits. 

Anderson’s Uniqlo takeover will roll out on Uniqlo.com beginning Thursday, September 21st at 9 p.m.and will hit select stores nationwide on September 22nd. Outerwear will range in cost from $99 to $149, with shirts, knits, pants and skirts hovering between $30 and $40. The must-have padded tote and striped scarves will be priced from $20 to $40.
