From planner + designer, Julie of Strawberry Milk Events… This couple wanted to give their guests a “classic D. C.” wedding experience. The ceremony and dance party took place in a “from scratch” ballroom we built on a high-rise terrace overlooking Georgetown, DC on a perfectly sunny, fall day.
The elegant, city-chic affair was both modern and romantic, and an all-white and gray palette incorporated warm fall tones such as beige, blush and antique gold. We wove a unique, laser-cut motif throughout many elements such as the invitations, linen and tent decor (bars, valance, band stage, etc.)
The couple exchanged vows in front of a gorgeous, white flower wall and later danced under the custom, tiered chandelier made entirely of gold leaves which sparkled in the candlelight while city lights twinkling in the background. Exquisite gold draping, a gray and gold custom patterned floor, a French electric violinist during ceremony and cocktails, fall-inspired apple brandy cocktails and DC-themed welcome guest bags were a few additional highlights.
It was fun to see the “tented ballroom” transformation from the ceremony to a dance lounge which took place while the guests enjoyed a delicious, multi-course dinner inside. Guests re-entered the tent after dinner to a rocking band from Elan Artists, a change in lighting which contributed to the change in mood, a too-pretty-to-eat gilded dessert display, and oversized, plush lounge furniture groupings.
