On the fashion calendar, minds are already landing on fall. It may seem bizarre if you don’t work in the industry, but it’s the truth — PR people are sending emails about holiday gift guides, editors are fielding September fashion week party invites and print publications are shooting their issues for months so cold it seems hard to fathom they could ever exist from the vantage point of a 90-degree day. But, lucky for warm-weather-lovers, stars on the red carpet this week had their minds — or at least their wardrobes — on nothing but the bold hues and and cheery florals of summer.
For most, like TV stars America Ferrera and Elisabeth Moss, this came in the form of a short-sleeved dress, but there were also those like comedian and actor Jenny Slate who chose to mix colorful floral embroidery with dark pant bottoms in an Osman jumpsuit. For other celebs who weren’t feeling the overtly nature-y vibe quite as much, there were other ways to get in their femme-est girlie-girl looks in. For Nicole Kidman, this meant choosing a fairy-tale-ready Zuhair Murad haute couture dress made of beigey-nude tulle, while Halle Berry choose a more laid-back Elie Saab number with frills all over. Here’s to celebrating summer for as long as it lasts.
