Tuchel said that Everton defeated Chelsea because his team made a mistake during the encounter, adding that the host also got away with a lot during the match.

A mistake from Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta allowed Richarlison to score the only goal of the encounter to give Frank Lampard’s men all three points against the visitors.

Speaking during his post-match press conference, the German said: “They got away with a lot and the referee decided to manage the game how he did.

“I was not too happy with it, but that is why it’s important not to do big mistakes, to give belief, and to keep doing what we do on the highest level.

He added: “If there is something I could do, I will try it. The key for me is to have a clean sheet. It’s a different game against Man United, the game was more open and there were more chances.”
