Brie Larson isn’t exactly one for frill. During last year’s Oscars run, her most memorable red carpet looks — namely, that icy Atelier Versace at the 2016 SAG Awards — bordered on edgy, even sexy. But on Wednesday, the actress showed she wasn’t above being princess-perfect, either: At a New York City screening of her upcoming film “The Glass Castle,” Larson opted for a hyper-feminine tulle gown from Monique Lhuillier‘s Spring 2018 collection. I’m all about the fairy-tale look. When you’re only 27 and have already won an Oscar, you have every right to go full-fledged princess — glass slippers (silver strappy heels, in her case) and all.
With the help of stylist Samantha McMillen, Larson’s floaty, dusty-rose bedazzled cape came layered over an ankle-grazing sheer dress that created a red carpet moment of visual splendor. At first glance, your eyes hit the romantic silhouette and the subtly sexy hint of her exposed shoulder, but a more up-close take reveals delicately beaded and pin-tucked chiffon work.
Thanks to the garment’s crystalized neckline, diamond accoutrements were kept at a minimum. Her face followed suit with a no-makeup-makeup look, featuring her flawlessly glowing complexion, and was accented with a sweet pink lip. It’s a look plucked from a fantasy world, where Larson lives happily ever after in a sea of sparkles.
