In a resounding New Year message, the Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has directed a clarion call to the current administration, emphasizing that political leaders were elected to address and resolve critical issues for the betterment of the masses, not to rely on feeble excuses about challenges inherited from their predecessors.

Yusuf Mamman Dantalle, the newly elected National Chairman of IPAC, articulated the council’s stance, highlighting the immense tasks ahead that demand exceptional patriotism, political astuteness, leadership prowess, and unwavering determination to confront and conquer.

In a message addressed to the citizens of Nigeria, IPAC underscored that tackling the challenges of insecurity, economic revitalization, infrastructure development, job creation, social cohesion, elevation of living standards, and national progress requires leaders to wholeheartedly focus on the mandate for which they were elected.

“Leadership embodies profound and weighty responsibilities. As such, all elected public officers are duty-bound to execute their constitutional obligations impartially and fulfill their campaign commitments to the people without offering excuses,” the statement affirmed.

Reflecting on the past year, IPAC acknowledged the significance of the year to the Nigerian populace, acknowledging the resilience exhibited by citizens in the face of political tension and uncertainty during the general election, economic downturn amplified by the elimination of fuel subsidies, currency devaluation, and widespread insecurity across the nation. Despite these challenges, Nigerians demonstrated resilience, overcame adversities, and showcased enduring faith in the nation.

In response to these circumstances, IPAC has established a Peer Review Mechanism designed to monitor the performance of elected public officials in delivering the dividends of democracy to citizens nationwide.

As the nation moves forward, IPAC’s message serves as a poignant reminder to political leaders, urging them to prioritize action over excuses and to remain committed to the fundamental purpose for which they were elected.
