Renowned Nigerian singer, Iyanya Onoyom Mbuk, popularly known as Iyanya, has expressed his belief in the beauty of marriage, urging Nigerians to look past the prevalence of divorces in the entertainment industry and embrace the institution of marriage.

“Marriage is beautiful. We have to learn to ignore bad marriages and not allow those bad marriages to define our expectations of marriage,” Iyanya stated. “Don’t let a bad marriage make you think you can’t have a good marriage.”
The singer went on to highlight the importance of finding a partner who is willing to make sacrifices, emphasizing that such a union can indeed be beautiful. He also pointed out that many happily married couples choose to keep their relationship private, away from the scrutiny of social media.
“I believe that if you find someone who loves you and is willing to sacrifice, it [marriage] is beautiful. I know people who are happily married, not that they don’t have challenges, but I’ve watched them protect what they have,” Iyanya said. “Some people who are happily married are not on Instagram; they don’t post valuable moments. They keep it, they cherish it.”

The singer also cautioned against the negative impact of social media on marriages, urging couples to prioritize the authenticity of their relationship over the desire to entertain others online.
“Social media is two words; social and media. Is your marriage social? If you want to be entertaining people with your marriage, if you guys now have small issues, you can’t even make up again,” he explained.
