The Presidential and National Assembly elections which had been peaceful since morning in Delta State turned sour as gunmen at about 12:47 Saturday afternoon shot two persons dead and injured two others along Old Eku road at Amukpe community in Sapele, Sapele Local Government Area of Delta State.

Security Operatives fled the scene of incident which occured at a voting centre in the community.

When contacted, the Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Adeyinka Adeleke, in a chat with our correspondent, confirmed the report.

He said it is only two persons that were shot dead and not three was being reported.

According to Adeleke, “Yes, it is true two people were shot dead by gunmen in Sapele. One died in the hospital and the other died at the scene.”
