Yobe at 30: ‘We pressed for creation of our state to bring development close – Senate President

The Senate President Dr. Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan, felicitates with the people of Yobe State on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the creation of the state.

Lawan particularly rejoiced with Governor Mai Mala Buni and members of his government on the auspicious occasion.

“The creation of Yobe State in 1991 was a dream come true for our people who for years had peacefully pressed for the creation of the state to bring government closer to them so that they can control and increase the pace of development of the state. Thus, August 27, 1991, represents for the good people of Yobe a new beginning and the dawn of new opportunities.

“I salute our leaders for their vision that brought about Yobe State. I also salute the generality of our people for their pride in the state and their commitment to its unity, peace, and progress. Let us continue to work to keep Yobe State truly as the Pride of the Sahel.

“I congratulate our Governor, His Excellency, Mai Mala Buni, for building on the proud legacies of our founding fathers and past leaders. This has sustained the orderly development of the state and the support of our people, notwithstanding the recent challenges that our entire region has faced.

“I enjoin my fellow Yobeans to continue to support and cooperate with Governor Buni in the onerous task of taking Yobe State to greater heights,” Lawan said.

The Senate President wished the entire people of the state happy anniversary celebrations.
